  • 2 packs chicken or shrimp ramen, or one of each
  • 1 handfull sugar snap peas
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrot
  • 3-5 dashes toasted sesame oil(a little goes a long way)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 soy chicken patties, such as boca or morningstar

Broil or pan fry soy patties until crispy and browned. Allow to cool and slice into 1/2 inch strips. Toss with 1 tablespoon sesame seeds. Boil ramen bricks, peas and carrots till tender. drain and and toss with seasoning packets and sesame oil and seeds. Top with sliced patties.

Apple and Orange Ramen Salad

  • 1 Package of Ramen Noodles (no seasoning packet)
  • 2 Large Oranges
  • 2 Large Apples (Any variety you like, although I do suggest Granny Smith.)
  • 4 to 5 Table Spoons of Brown Sugar

Open your ramen noodles and leave them out overnight to get stale. In the morning, peal and slice your oranges in to bite sized peices. Cut you apple in to equally bite sized peices. Mix both together in a large bowl. Add the brown sugar to taste and let the mixture meld together (the brown sugar and orange juice will form a kind of syrup on the bottom of the bowl and will also keep the apples from turning brown). Just before serving crush the stale ramen noodles(but not completely) and incorporate them into the apple and orange mixture. Garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy.

Jerky Dust Ramen

A good recipe, with an odd ingredient, jerky dust.

  • Beef jerky
  • garlic powder
  • crushed red pepper

This is not a fancy recipe by any means. I used to only eat the asian noodles. Didn\’t like the beef, or pork. Chicken was OK but asian was my fovorite until I figured this out. Since I live in Albany Oregon, the home of Smoke Craft, I can buy jerky dust at the factory. My wife purchased a 6 lb sack at the outlet store for SmokeCraft.

So here you go, open up the noodles, sprinkle the jerky on the noodles, sprinkle the garic on it, add some hot pepper etc. and then just cook them.

Yummy Noodle Delight

  • 1 pack any brand of beef ramen noodles you like
  • 1 can of diced tomatos
  • 2 tbps of worshtershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 drops of tobasco sauce

Cook the ramen like you normally do then add in the rest of the ingredients. Lower heat, then cook until the noodles have a light sauce. Serve and enjoy!

Review: Nong Shim Big Bowl Noodle (Kimchi)

I recently received my third box of goodies from Noodleson and so today I decided to try out one of the instant lunch noodle packs. I was a bit nervous to see that both my remaining instant noodles were "kimchi flavor". I have never tried Kim Chi, but it sounds scary to me. Anyway, I was brave enough to cook up some Nong Shim Big Bowl Noodle (Kim Chi Flavor).

This ramen was the "add boiling water and wait" type. I found that the noodles softened very fast, and the broth was a spicy red color. The broth itself was quite spicy (made my nose run) and the noodles were good. They were the regular thin ramen noodles, not thick ones, but I still enjoyed it. I really liked the flavor, even with Kim Chi! Anyway, if you like spicy noodles, I would recommend this one.

Ramen Eatery?

The wife and I have been raman junkies for years. We rented a small nice outfitted location. We have some time to get things right, but we will be open soon. Looking at offering a Raman eatery. Sit down for 40 folks and to go orders. We have made many a great dish with ramen. We are out fitted with foutain soda and water.

    I have a few questions:

  • Best way to offer menu. We have the house recipes, but look to have a flier type paper with boxes for the folks to check. You want beef you check beef you want fresh peas you check that and so on. You get the point. You also would be able to check the sauses and other "chemicals" you would like. Like Curry, soy, garlic salt, fresh gInger and so on. Boiled, fried or deep fried noodle available. Then check to go or eat in.
  • Looking at have a set price. Very simple. Lunch in is 4.20 take out or delivery is 5.20. Comes with soda or water. Dinner would be a little more because we would have fresh hot tea and offer free desert.
  • Any help I can get for pricing on Fresh Raman. We are looking at using dried, but still want to find very good quality fresh.

Any ideas or comments, please post. Also if you frequent other fresh ramen eateries, please share your thoughts on prices...

Review: Ichiban Kitsune

Last night, I realized that I didnt have really anything to eat, so I figured I would cook up some more ramen noodles for dinner (along with a turkey sandwich). I pulled the Sapporo Ichiban Kitsune ramen out of the closet and started cooking.

This ramen had nice thick noodles and a bean curd patty-thing. The bean curd was sweet, but I didnt like the taste all that much. The noodles had a great texture, but I wasnt a huge fan of the broth. Oh well, I was hungry so I ate it anyway.

I usually like everything made by Sapporo Ichiban, but this one was not my favorite.
