Fried Ramen Cake

A quick and easy way to add some protein and butter to your ramen.

  • 1 pkg ramen – chicken flavor works best
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter

In a small saucepan heat 1 cup of water to boiling. Add flavor packet and ramen noodles. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until all the water is absorbed. In the meantime, whisk the egg in a small bowl.

Heat butter in a medium-sized nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until the foaming subsides.

This next step needs to be done swiftly so that the egg doesn’t scramble – when the noodles are done, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the whisked egg quickly, stirring all the while to coat the ramen, then dump the whole thing into the skillet. Use a fork to arrange the noodles into a rough circle.

Cook without disturbing until the bottom of the cake is browned, then flip the whole thing over with a spatula and brown on the other side. It’s done when it is brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

You could add things to the noodles (chicken or meat or veggies) but it’s pretty pointless because they are perfect the way they are.
