I went to school at UM-Rolla (MSM), where we knew how to properly cook our ramen. It looks like our brothers and sisters to the north at Mizzou cannot cook theirs without causing the building to be evacuated. Oh well, its always fun to make Mizzou joke…
Burned Ramen causes alarm
According to an announcement posted by the Department of Residential Life, a failed attempt at cooking Ramen noodles in a second-floor microwave created large amounts of smoke.
All was well in Hudson residence hall on Sunday morning — until fire alarms rang at 3 a.m., awaking its residents and forcing them to evacuate.
“The fire went out without intervention due to being contained in the microwave,” the announcement stated.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I was a student a Mizzou several years back and the only thing that got burned during my stay were members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity [ever after know as the Fry-Delts]. One cold winter night some members were shooting bottle rockets at pledges in a upstairs hallway [hazing anyone?] and one rocket apparently sailed thought a hole in the ceiling and into the attic, starting a smoldering fire. Later that night the fire took hold and the huge frat house burned to the ground. The 150+ displaced Fry-Delts wound up living various dorm lounges till they could find other accommodations. The uber ironic thing about this was the house’s location… 101 East Burnam Road.
I live in Columbia (mizzou’s town). About a year ago some fraternity stuffed a decorative cannon full of fireworks and set it off. It blew the cannon apart and almost killed a bunch of people and hurt some more. Yeah… I don’t think the students are too smart
Haha about the burned ramens… From what I’ve read it seems like they tried to cook the ramens in the microwave, instead of nuking the water to get it to boil, then just letting the noodles sit for three minutes… I worry about MU students (I’m a Columbia resident), since a lot of them come to college with no culinary skills… seriously people, the directions are ON THE BAG.
lol.
