CactusV writes: Here’s a recipe I learned in prison; it’s for a generic asian-style teriyakiesque dish we referred to simply as “Chinese Food”. A more interesting/catchy name is “Sweet & Spicy Coke Ramen”.
- 1 pack Texas Beef Ramen (or regular beef, or asian – but Texas Beef is best)
- 1/2 to 3/4 can Coke (not diet)
- 1 pack salted peanuts
- 1 Beef stick (aka Slim Jim) –Optional–
Cook noodles. Use one of your work boots and the concrete floor of your cell to crush the peanuts inside the bag. Add about 2/3 of the peanuts and eat the rest while you’re “cooking”. Drain water from noodles, then add seasoning packet and coke. Add peanuts and optional sliced beef stick or summer sausage. Add more coke to achieve the right amount of sauce and balanced flavor.

Try this with peanut butter instead of crushed peanuts. Not bad.
Me and my friend started to make this for a fun joke but came out with a kickass snack. Thanks a lot dude.
Throw away qualms with this one, despite the oddity of using Coke.
Another easy recipe, and none of the ingredients are exotic… Except maybe the Texas Beef flavored ramen. I just used regular Maruchan Beef flavor which was alright, though I might suggest adding some spices like a few pinches of cayanne pepper or red pepper flake to kick the heat up a bit.
You’re going to want to use warm Coke for this, cold will cool it down way too much. As for the taste, the Coke adds a kind of sweetness to it, but it’s not too overpowering, the peanuts complement it nicely but a dab of peanut butter may accomplish this better, but it might not have a high enough temperature to sufficiently melt the peanut butter. (The crushed peanuts DO add a bit of texture though).
A small glass of ice will let you enjoy the rest of the unused pop cold.
All in all, quite a nice item. I’d see myself eating this again in the future, if not for the taste, than the look of nearby spectators as I add a half-can of soda to my Ramen.
My sister tried this one after hearing my success with a different recipe. Though… she can’t drink caffienated pop, and we don’t have any non-diet, so she substituted the 1/2 can-or-so of Coke with 1/2 can of Diet Caffiene-Free Pepsi.
As weird as it was, it was quite good. However, neither of us could eat an entire serving. I can’t explain why.
Sweet, Im gonna go try it with Barqs root beer!!!
THE BEST EVER
Where do you find Texas Beef Ramen?
I find that I like cold coke instead, it helps because I like to eat spicey noodles and the sweetness of the coke helps it from burning my tongue…
oh, and add a little tofu to it if it makes you feel any healthier
Heres a better one for all you convicts
1 Beef Ramen Noodle
1 Flour Tortilla
Cheese Squeeze
Corn Chips
Chilli Beans & Rice.

Cook Chilli beans & rice and drain

Smash the corn chips and mix in with the noodles, beans & rice
Add the noodles, beans & rice and corn chips to the floor tortilla and roll the tortilla.
