- 1 packet of Ramen- any flavor (I used chicken flavor)
- 1 packet of powdered tomato cup-of-soup mix
- Optional: diced tomato
As usual, break up Ramen in a pot of water, bring to a boil, then lower heat and add flavoring. Additionally, add the powdered tomato soup mix. Cook as usual, drain, and eat.
Optional: While Ramen is cooking, grill up some diced tomatoes, and add those to the noodles at the end.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I tried tomato bullion a while back, but it was some kind of mexican product, marketed by Knorr, and it was horrible. My quest for a decent tomato flavoring continues……
Bring Back Tomato Ramen……….or else!!!
Is there a new number we can call? The other does not work.
I found a close replica of the original tomato ramen. Its made by Maruchan and called Yakisoba Tomato and Basil flavored japanese noodles. The package is larger than regular ramen and comes with a vegetable packet that I leave out. Make it in the microwave and take a few of the noodles out, the seasoning isnt quite as strong as the old tomato ramen. I had been searching for tomato ramen for years and am thrilled to have found something that is VERY similiar.
Those were my favorites, I’m gonna try the MAGGI brand from amazon.com. I hope they taste the same!
I have been looking for a replacement as well. Someone let me know if the Maggi stuff is any good. http://www.amazon.com/Maggi-Tomato-Noodles-100g-Pack/dp/B000JSM2RM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=gourmet-food&qid=1214093814&sr=8-3
Why oh why won’t you bring back the tasty tomato ramen, you see us all nearly postal over the luscious tomatoey twist of your noodle but still you dangle it over our heads like a carrot to a donkey.

I love the tomato flavor! It was so good. I’m glad I know for sure that they discontinued it, I’ve been searching every market I go to for it. But now I’m really sad… I LOVED THAT FLAVOR!!!!!

I have two full unopened packages of Maruchan Tomato Ramen (circa 2002). I will not disclose the guarded storehouse I keep them in, but I will post their soup ingredients. If there is a food scientist out there, please help us resurrect Tomato Ramen from its base code.
Maruchan Tomato Ramen Soup Base Ingredients:
SUGAR, SALT, DEHYDRATED VEGETABLES (TOMATO, ONION, GARLIC, PARSLEY), SPICES, MONOSODIUMGLUTAMATE, HYDROLYZED CORN PROTIEN, SOUR CREAM POWDER (CREAM, NONFAT MILK, CULTURES), SILICON DIOXIDE (ANTI-CAKING AGENT), MALIC ACID, POWDERED COOKED CHICKEN, NATURAL FLAVOR, DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE
This listing of ingredients may also help us judge these new impostors back to the original Tomato Ramen.
I am so glad to know that I am not the only one missing our old red soup friend. Tomato Ramen will return, and lead us again to a more wonderful world of sweet tomato bliss. I only hope I am still alive to taste it.
You need to bring back the tomato ramen, nothing can or will replace the unique flaovor you get from Tomato Top Ramen!!!!! Why can they not bring it back?

*****TOMATO RAMEN FANS BEHOLD*****
I was at a local indian supermarket yesterday (in california) and I look in the instant noodle section and to my surprise, there it was in all of its shining red glory. Tomato top muthafuckin ramen. It came in 1 large typical plastic pouch, but with 4 bricks instead of just 1 “family size” or something… I have yet to cook it but when I do, I’ll report back here to post my findings. Perhaps link to a photo as well.
So to all you tomato ramen fans out there… check out your local asian/indian markets. You may be surprised!!

( please please bring back my major food group!!!!!!
*i just love this blog*
Oh MY GOSH!!! I was specifically looking for my tomato ramen too and found this site! I guess they’re not making it anymore. It’s horrible because it’s been a real long time since I’ve had it. They must have stopped making it about 10 years ago- but I still crave it haha. It’s driving me nutty still that I can’t get it!
If anyone knows any place that sells tomato ramen, please post the info…
Sorry I just read more posts and saw the info about the tomato ramen from Indian stores. I’ll have to see if I can track those down in my area. We do have some Indian stores around! Hope they’re as good as the old tomato ramen! Thanks
i don’t think you can get the tomato flavor any more (at least in the soup cup like i remember having it), i’ve searched high and low. but i HAVE found that if you get the Maruchan brand Oriental flavor ramen, cook it up, add the flavor packet, and THEN add an oz or two tomato juice to it, it comes pretty close…
I’m not nuts! I knew I used to get tomato ramen. It was so good…
I sent nissin an email about the tomato top ramen and this is what happened:

I feel like I just found a beloved family I never knew I had!
I miss Tomato Ramen too!
I called the phone number posted above and left a message with Maruchan Comsumer Affairs lending my support for the Tomato Ramen flavor to be brought back. Here’s the number again for what it’s worth!

Everytime i hear the word “noodles”, I think of the Ramen tomato flavor.. Ever since I was a kid I always used to eat them, raw or cooked.. they were the best, till one day they weren’t in the grocery stores today.. after years of being deprived, i searched it up and i am now united with everyone here who are die hard lovers for this flavor.. I NO LONGER BUY RAMEN NOODLES, OR MARUCHAN…..
SCREW THEM, I HOPE THE GO BANKRUPT, FREAKING BASTARDS!
Like many of you, several years ago I realized that I could no longer find my favorite flavor of ramen. I came across this page last year or so, but never ended up trying the recipe. However, this did inspire me to find a better solution to our problem.
Fellow tomato ramen fans, I believe my solution is here! While in the grocery store, I discovered Knorr tomato boullion cubes with chicken flavor. The ratio of cubes to water is perfect for ramen(1 cube per 2 cups.) It is also reasonably priced. I think I paid around $1.20 for an 8 pack of cubes. This would approximately double the price of ramen, but that’s perfectly acceptable in my mind.
After trying 4 bowls, I have decided that this is a great substitute for transforming any flavor ramen into tomato. All you have to do is swap the flavoring packet for one of these boullion cubes!
They also have a Knorr tomato boullion cube with chipotle flavor! I am dying to find this variety!
Please go to facebook and search for Bring Back Maruchan Tomato Ramen
Then invite all your friends, the more people who participate the sooner we will have it back. I really do want tomato ramen back and if you do too then please just do this simple thing!

I just ordered some of the Tomato Ramen from Aapki Grocery per Tiffany’s suggestion above! Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, I am using instant tomato soup to make faux tomato ramen. I’ve found instant tomato soup to be hard to find where I live, so I ended up ordering it here:
http://www.discountcoffee.com/soup_tomato.htm
I can’t say it tastes exactly like the original Maruchan Tomato Ramen, but it’s a decent substitute!
$1.99 + shipping kind of kills half the joy of ramen.
So, did what you ordered from Aapki prove worth it?!?!? I’d love to know!! Please post your findings!!!! I miss you tomato raman!!!!!
anyone have any luck getting through to maruchan???? they need to bring tomato flavored back!
i know maruchan soup is the best ever i miss it everyday
I just tried the Maggi Tomato flavor Ramen i found in an Arab/Asian market in Norfolk VA a few days ago. This particular product appears to be made in New Delhi India. Stuff comes in a tiny packet that is about half the size of a normal pack of Ramen. The above Amazon link shows what appears to be a standard sized package. Directions say to use 225ml of water, and cook the Ramen for 2 minutes. My first impression is this particular version of Tomato Ramen is pretty darn good, in fact, much better than the Gag-Fest Tomato Basel stuff I tried a few years back and posted above. That stiff was horrid.
Maggi Tomato Ramen is very spicy, and obviously targeted to Indian taste, and is very good, but, not the same or even close to that Maruchan Tomato flavor we have all come to love, and now lament. My quest to find a replacement for Maruchan Tomato Ramen continues, sigh.
this blog..
this blog has changed my life.
i now know that i am not the only one.
tomato ramen was the best thing maruchan ever came up with.. and i dont know why they had to cancel it. i mean, meat seriously isnt everything.
ever since the cancellation ive been reduced to eating oriental flavor and chilli, but they simply do not compare.
i hope they bring back this flavor…
what you want is either knorr’s fideo with tomato base or la moderna mexican soup tomato and chicken flavor accept no substitutes it is low cal…you are welcome may need to lookk in the mexican food section
btw these are four serving packets so do not let the price discourage you the flavor is not similar to ramen…it is identical
one more btw…this is not bullion cubes
