The page has been upgraded to WP 2.3. I know the recipe count is broken, it’s counting all posts and I will work on that when I get back from vacation. I’m also noticing that my Recipe sub-categories are broken and I’m going to look into that next.
Here’s a recipe that you could call “healthy”, hey at least it has some vegetables in it. Also I will note that neither the submitter, nor I, could spell zucchini without the help of a spell checker. I also figure that olive oil would work well in place of butter in this.

- 1 package of ramen, cooked with seasoning and drained
- 1/8 c butter
- 1 small zucchini, sliced
- 1 small yellow squash, sliced
- 1/4 c onion, diced
- 1 tsp Season-All (McCormick’s)
While ramen is cooking, saute the vegetables in butter, in a pot large enough to hold ALL ingredients. Cook to your own preference: soft vegetables take 5-7 minutes, slightly crispy will take about 2-3 minutes more. Drain ramen. Pour ramen over vegetables. Sprinkle Season-all and carefully mix all ingredients. Serve and enjoy.
Edit: We almost had our 400th recipe, until I found out that I had something miscategorized… Almost there.
I’ve been using WordPress for about 3 years now, starting with WP 1.2. We are now running WP 2.2.3, and I’m still using the old theme that I used for 1.2. I can’t tell if I’m missing functionality because of not using a native WP 2.x theme. Does anyone know whether I need to “upgrade” my theme? I played with the K2 theme and taking all my customizations over to it will be a major pain. If any of my readers know the answer to this, please let me know using the form to the right, thanks. –>

- 2 chicken flavor ramen packets (decide if you want to use flavor packet)
- 1-2 cups water
- chili oil
- soy sauce
- black vinegar (you can buy this stuff from asian food stores)
- some salt
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped into very small pieces. add more if you want.
- 1 spring onion, chopped into very small pieces.
- baby bok choy or romaine lettuce.
- some canola, vegetable, soybean, or corn oil.
Put the water in a medium-sized pot and bring it to a boil. When the water starts boiling, add the ramen noodles and flavor packet. Cook the ramen until the noodles and are relatively soft, and then add romaine lettuce or bok choy and cook until vegetables are soft but not soggy. Turn off the stovel. In a large bowl, mix the soy sauce, black vinegar, chili oil, salt (a pinch. if you used the flavor packet, don’t use the salt), garlic, spring onion, and oil together. Pour the noodles and vegetables into the bowl, and add some of the water the noodles were cooking in to make soup. Chow down on this heavenly food!!

Let me preface this by saying that I would never eat this. I know you can make dessert from pasta, from rice, and yes, from ramen, but I don’t go for it. I’ve always been clear that foods are segmented, some are for dessert, some are not. I don’t even like pineapples because pine + apple doesn’t sound good to me (okay, flawed logic, I’ll admit), but I will finally eat cheese cake.

Title: Caramel Ramen
- One pack of ramen (flavor pack removed)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
Preheat the over to 300 degrees. Mix the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a pot, and heat on medium until it starts to bubble and thicken, stirring often. When it gets to this point, remove is from the heat. Break up a pack of ramen and mix it into the mixture until it is
coated well. Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet and put it into the oven for 4 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool in the fridge or freezer.
PS – We are closing in on 400 recipes!!!
The Korean (South) government is going to ban soft drinks in order to improve the health of students, but they are also going to restrict ramen! The article also links ramen to obesity (or is missing some punctuation). Also, “The ministry will also encourage students to brush their teeth after lunch and wash their hands frequently.” Korean parents are said to be relieved as they no longer have anything to do in raising their kids except provide them a bed.
