Steve from Lima, OH wants to know…
Okay I was wondering what the world record of eating ramen is? At the same time I would like to participate in a ramen contest to see how I stack up against everyone else that loves the greatest food.
Personally, I’ve never eaten a “ton of ramen” just to see how much I can eat, so my personal best is probably only 2 or 3 packets at once when camping. How much has everyone else done?

Agbasp writes in from the Great White North with this “approved” recipe that he discovered when he was starving, although, if you have diced steak, you ain’t really stavin’.
Submitted By: Agbasp
Submitted By: Wisconsin, USA
Ingredients
- Maruchan Pork Ramen
- Diced Steak (pre-cooked)
- Shredded Chedder
- Diced Hot Dogs
Crumble up the Ramen noodles and pour into a bowl with 2 cups of water. Add the diced hotdogs and set in the microwave for 7 minutes. During that time the water will boil the noodles and the hotdog slices. When it is done, drain it leaving just a tad bit of water. Next, add the Cheddar, Diced Steak, Flavor packet, and what ever else you like. Stir, and after it cools, enjoy.

If you don’t mind the layout, this site has some interesting information, including a registry of ramen shops. Best of all, it’s maintained by a self-proclaimed REAL ramen lover.

The Swedish Chef would approve of this one. Seriously, I’ve never eaten herring, I wonder if it tastes at all like sardines?

Ingredients
- 2 package of ramen (throw away seasoning packet)
- 1 Can of smoked Baltic herring in tomato sauce
This is a very easy recepie, all you do is boil the Ramen, get rid of the water, open can of herring and mix in a bowl (preferably wooden). If the herring is in big pieces chop them with your Viking axe. It may sound a bit strange for those of you not familiar with herring, but 9 million swedes cant be wrong right!
ENJOY!

Rada wants to know, “What happened to the really *easy* egg ramen recipes, that dont become blasphemous or complicated?”
Ingredients
- 1 package of Ramen (Any flavour)
- 1-2 eggs
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato (Not big)
Put just enough water in a casserole to be able to cover the block of ramen. While you wait for it to boil, cut some slices of tomato and onion. When the water has boiled, put in the ramen and seasoning, then cover with a nice layer of tomato and onion slices, and pour a whole egg on the top. Put on a lid, wait for it to boil just enough for your liking and serve!
This tastes just absolutely delicious, and gives you a good start in the morning.

Check out this book, called “No More Ramen: the twenty-something’s real world survival guide”. Obviously this author is confused about the many uses of ramen. However, from what I’ve seen, this site is mainly not about ramen, and is more about careers and life in general post-college.

Can someone who speaks/reads Japanese read through the Maruchan webpages and find me a contact address? I have had numerous requests for ways to contact them for numerous reasons. I tried Google translate, but it didn’t handle the contact forms very well.
If you can figure out an email address for them, use the contact form on the right and let me know.

This one is really simple, but I’m a sucker for bacon. I also discovered a cheap, but excellent way to get minimal quantities of bacon. Go to the meat counter and get the bacon they sell. If you only need 4 slices for a recipe, you only have to buy 4. Best of all, the bacon is thicker and tastes better.

Ingredients
- 1 packet of Oriental style noodles
- 4 Slices of Bacon chopped
- A Few Chopped Green Onions (optional)
- 1 Dash of worcestershire Sauce
Fry up the bacon, and then drain. Pour out all but 1 or 2 table spoons. In the pan
add the seasoning packet and stir. Prepare the ramen according to the directions, and then pour this wonderful fluid all over. Top with a few green onions and a dash of worcestershire and you have a meal that will make you useless on the couch in no time!
